ANGELA OKUTOYI BECOMES THE FIRST KENYAN TO WIN A GRAND SLAM

July 9, 20220

Angella Okutoyi has made history by becoming the first Kenyan to win a tennis grand slam.

Angella won the doubles title of the Wimbledon women’s Junior doubles event that concluded today at Court 18 of the Championships.

Angella doubled up with Dutch player Rose Marie Nijkamp and defeated the Canadian duo of Victoria Mboko and Kayla Cross in 3 sets of 3-6, 6-4, 11-9

Angela Okutoyi  has had an impeccable growth as a junior athlete, after being the first Kenyan girl to win a junior Grand Slam Match at the 2022 Australian Open at 17 years of age.

She’s gone ahead at 18 years to clinch the World’s most prestigious title in the Tennis spectre.

This might just be the best step as she recently got a Paris-2024 Scholarship from the National Olympic Committee towards the Olympic Games in the French Country.

Congratulations Angie.
