ATHLETES COMMISSION

The Athletes Commission is charged with the duty of ensuring the athletes viewpoint remains at the heart of NOCK’s Activities and strengthening the support to athletes. The Athletes Commission serves as the link between athletes and NOC-K Executive. It advises the NOCK Executive Board on matters athletes’ welfare.

The responsibilities of the Athletes’ Commission are to:

  • Support Athlete Development in their sporting and non-sporting careers.
  • Promote Athlete Involvement in decision-making across the Olympic Movement in Kenya.
  • Empower & Ensure Athlete Representation in Olympic Movement decision-making.
  • Give input on relevant activities to support and protect athletes’ health, social development and ethics
ELITE ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

The Elite Athlete Development Commission is the technical advisory arm of the NOC-K Executive on technical matters. It advises the Executive on strategies and actions to take to enhance elite athlete performance and development.

The responsibilities of the Athletes’ Commission are to:

  • Oversee Technical development projects like Sports Science and Elite athletes’ programs
  • Review and evaluation of athlete performance tracking and monitoring.
  • Oversee athletes’ scholarships
  • Help NOC-K be an opinion leader and a repository of expertise and knowledge regarding all matters related to athletes’ entourage
YOUTH COMMISSION

The Youth Commission serves to front the youth agenda in sports development. The commission has the responsibility to advise the NOC-K Executive on how to link youth programs to elite development programs. The commission also overseas the Youth programs and projects in the country.

MEDICAL & SCIENTIFIC COMMISSION

The Medical Commission provides a guiding reference to the NOC-K Executive Board on matters relating to the protection and the health of athletes. The Commission advises the Executive Board and NOC-K President on athletes’ health and wellness, and the protection of clean athletes.

The responsibilities of the commission are to:

  • Deliver evidence-based education and awareness to athletes and their entourage.
  • Supervising the provision of health care and doping control services for national
    teams
  • Develop and promote the adoption of ethical standards in sports science and
    medicine.
  • Explore the potential of new technologies to optimise athletes’ health and
    preventing their potential damaging effects.
SPORTS & SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION

The Sports & Sustainability Commission aligns with the International Olympic Movement’s goal of popularizing sport with respect of the principles of sustainability in the social, economic and environmental spheres.
The responsibilities of the commission are to:

  • Develop NOC-K’s sustainability strategy & policies and periodic reviews of NOC-K
    operations
  • Provide strategic advice on sustainability themes in line with the relevant global
    sustainability agenda
  • Encourage the development and promotion of sustainability best practices throughout
    the Olympic Movement;
  • Cooperate with critical organizations, IOC partners, CBOs and NGOs, universities,
    companies to use sports to promote education and initiative for sustainability behaviors
  • Develop NOC-K sports legacy program and implement within the Olympic Movement in
    Kenya

GENDER COMMISSION

The role of the Gender Commission is to act in an advisory capacity to the NOC-K Executive Board on all matters pertaining to promoting equal opportunities across gender to participate in, and benefit from sport and physical activity.

The responsibilities of the commission are to:

  •  Develop and implement an NOC-K gender equity strategy
  • Promote the use of sport as a tool for gender equality and empowerment and raising
    awareness of harassment and abuse in sport;
  • Advocate for an enabling environment opportunity to increase women participation
    in sports at various levels
  • Support the development of women’s skills in sports management and leadership
MEDIA COMMISSION

The Media Commission’s mission is to advise NOC-K on strategic communication, to ensure that NOC-K’s vision and mission, and activities are promoted to a global audience.

The responsibilities of the commission are to:

  • Develop and implement a clear communication strategy of NOCK.
  • Develop media relations to ensure publicity around NOC activities
  • Be the lead in managing innovative communications approaches all year round.
  • Advice the Executive on PR activities to maintain relations with its stakeholders
NOC-K INSTITUTE COMMISSION

The NOC-K Institute is the education arm of the NOC. It’s mission is promotion of sports education, values-based education and research. The Commission provides strategic direction on NOC-K programs and activities related to sports education and education of
youth through sports.
The responsibilities of the commission are to:

  • Develop & implement the NOC-K Institute department
  • Operationalize the National Olympic Academy of Kenya, to promote the cultural and educational development of the Olympic Movement in Kenya. To promote programs including Session for Young Participants, session for Educators of Higher Institutes of Physical Education, Session for Olympians, Master’s Degree in Olympic Studies, Session for Sports Journalists.
  • Operationalize the NOC-K Olympic library
  • Provide guidance and support for sports research in Kenya
  • Deliver the Olympic Values Education Programme, and development of resources for educators
  • Optimise strategic partnerships with relevant organisations working in the field of education
  • Seek scholarship opportunities, providing guidance and recruitment of candidates for available education opportunities
MARKETING COMMISSION

The Marketing Commission advises the NOC-K Executive Board, giving guidance, perspective and ideas in the area of Olympic marketing which will assist the NOC to continue to generate, enable and grow long-term revenue streams for the sport.
The responsibilities of the Marketing Commission are to:

  •  Implement Review and study possible sources of financing and revenue for NOC-K
  • Make recommendations to the Executive Board regarding marketing and related programmes
  • Monitor the implementation of NOC-K’s marketing and related programmes
  • Seek means of maximising the potential benefits to the Olympic Movement available through association with marketing partners.
  • Manage the NOC-K brand, to remain visible, relevant and vibrant
  • Lead the efforts to fundraise for Team Kenya to major Games
