SUMMER OLYMPICS

The Olympic Games are the biggest international sports festival in the world Draw participation from over 200 countries and held once after every four years (an Olympiad). Kenya first participated at the Summer Olympic Games in 1956 and boasts of a medal haul of 113 medals (35 Gold, 42 Silver, 36 Bronze) to date. It makes the Kenya the most successful African country at the Olympic Games.

WINTER OLYMPICS

Kenya as taken part in four editions of the Winter Games (1998, 2002, 2006 and 2018). From 1998 until 2006, their sole representative was cross-country skier Philip Boit. Boit, a former middle-distance runner with no previous skiing experience, was trained in Finland in a  sponsorship and marketing deal by Nike. In 2018, the Kenyan team consisted of one female alpine skier, Sabrina Simader, the first woman to compete for the country at the Winter Olympics. Simader was born in Kenya, though moved to Austria when she was three years old. Kenya has had other winter sports coming up recently like Curling who have represented the country in Canada at the World championships and will be looking to make to the Olympic stage in future.

AFRICAN GAMES

It is a quadrennial multisport continental event Kenya has participated in 12 editions of the Games and has won 453 medals. The last edition in 2019, Kenya sent a contingent of 259 athletes who brought home 11 gold medals, 10 silver and 10 bronze. Kenya will send a team to the 2023 edition in Accra, Ghana.

BEACH GAMES

These are new age sports that offer exciting sporting spectacle. Kenya first participated in 2019 and brought home 5 medals in marathon, beach tennis and beach volleyball. NOC-K is planning to be hosting a National Beach Games Festival at the coastal strip annually
